TERMS OF USE

MSIS Terms

Main Street Internet Service (MSIS) will provide Internet services (the service) to the customer (named on the User Configuration Form, Invoice, or Contract) for his/her private use. The customer (residential or commercial) must abide by this MSIS Acceptable Use Policy. Any violation of this policy may result in the suspension or termination of the account, investigation by the FBI, NSA, state or local authorities. Use of an MSIS account constitutes an understanding and acceptance of the terms and conditions set forth in this policy.

  • MSIS reserves the right to modify the Acceptable Use Policy at any time. Any modifications to this policy will be dated appropriately. MSIS also reserves the right to limit or discontinue any Internet service which may compromise network integrity at any time for any reason.

  • An MSIS account is personal and private and therefore does not extend to any other person, corporation, or entity.

  • An MSIS account is non-transferable. Login names and passwords are not to be shared with outside parties.

  • No more than one dial-up connection can be used at any time for each PPP login account. If, at any time, more than one instance of an account is found, the account will be suspended immediately for security reasons.

  • An account does not constitute a dedicated connection. An inactivity time-out of thirty minutes has been engineered in the PPP daemon to ensure fair access to all customers. Any attempt to bypass such measures is a breach of this policy; examples of such measures are: ping daemons, IRC, and mail bots.

  • Any attempt to violate the security, stability or integrity of any MSIS server is strictly prohibited.

  • The use of any NNTP emulator is prohibited while using a PPP account.

  • Storage and/or distribution of illegal materials (material which MSIS deems threatening or obscene) on MSIS's servers is prohibited.

  • Tampering with the return address or route report on an e-mail message or Usenet news message is prohibited. Anonymous transmissions of any sort are prohibited.

  • MSIS customers must abide by the terms and policies of any service to which he/she connects. Obtaining these policies is the direct responsibility of the customer.

  • MSIS customers must abide by the net-wide accepted rules of Internet conduct, or "etiquette".

  • Each Personal account is provided with two megabytes of storage space on MSIS's servers for WWW files. Each month, all accounts on MSIS's servers will be audited. Any account in which the WWW data stored is above 2 megabyte shall be charged a rate of $5.00 per megabyte (over the initial 2 meg of free space) per month.

  • The customer is responsible for a basic working knowledge of his/her operating system/interface (Win 3.x, Win 95, Win2000, Win XP or MAC).
Technical support representatives are not responsible for general computer support. Any technical assistance given to the customer, outside the bounds of Internet service, is at the discretion of the representative.

  • MSIS offers free technical support via telephone for initial connection and E-mail issues only. Any additional technical support requests should be sent to techsupport@msis.net .

  • Although commercial entities may utilize a dial-up account, the 2 megabyte of space provided for world wide web page files is for personal use only. Any advertising on this space is strictly prohibited (See Services and Charges for details about commercial home pages). Any mass mailing or mass posting to Usenet Newsgroups is also prohibited, and will result in account termination and regional blacklisting.

  • The customer agrees to pay all bills, initial and recurring, by the billing date listed on the initial invoice and payment coupons. All setup fees and first month's fees are non-refundable. Any cancellation must be made in writing (e-mail, FAX, or U.S. Post Office Mail) and will become effective at the end of the last billing cycle (NO REFUNDS). Any account that is not paid by the 15th of that month will incur a $5.00 late fee and any accounts not paid by the 20th of that month will be deactivated. Returned checks are subject to a charge of $20.00.

  • The customer agrees to indemnify Main Street Internet Service against liability for any and all use of the customer's account
